Visual Studio released around April of 1995. It is now 2013 and the tenth edition of Visual Studio has been released. Can you name all of the editions that have released in between the original and Visual Studio 2013? Can you associate the following codenames with the versions of Visual Studio they relate to?
Visual Studio 2013 is the most recent release in the Visual Studio family. It was released around October 17th along with .NET 4.5.1. While the product has already officially released, on November 13, Microsoft will be doing a virtual launch event. At the time this was written, you could register for this event at http://events.visualstudio.com/. Microsoft plans to go over what is new and talk about the products direction.
In addition to the live virtual event, Microsoft has a number of local events happening. While there isn’t one near me, there are several around the world. The ones I reviewed were on different dates from the virtual event. If you want to see if there is one near you, you can go to:
Since I’m tossing out links, if you want to download Visual Studio 2013, the link you can head to is http://www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/eng/downloads
Finally, I can’t end the blog post without pointing to at least one article on our site. The most recent article on Visual Studio was written by Hannes du Preez:
Let me end this post by disclosing the obvious. Codeguru does business with Microsoft. Maybe not so obvious is that I was asked to mention the Visual Studio virtual event. Of course, I’m happy to do that because I’m sure you would be interested in knowing about it!
Did you figure out the Visual Studio versions that matched the codewords?
