Microsoft Delivers WP7 to manufacturers

Windows Phone 7 has been finalized and released to manufacturers, Microsoft announced in a blog yesterday. Microsoft announced via blog yesterday that WP7 has been finished and shipped to manufacturers.

Now Manufacturers can begin integration with smartphones and devices before the holiday sesaon. Terry Myerson, Vice President of Windows Phone Engineering was quoted as saying "10,000 prototype devices ran automated tests of the OS daily, with over 3.5 million hours of stress tests. "We are ready".

Microsoft has 5 listed manufacturers at this time, Asus, HTC, LG, Samsung and Dell. Sony Ericsson and Toshiba are expected to be added soon. Microsoft named all 4 major US carriers as partners, they include AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Sprint and T-Mobile. AT&T is expected to be the flagship carrier

There are reports stating that phones will be available in November just in time for the holiday shopping season. Microsoft wouldn't answer any hard questions on shipment timing.
