Will Apps in the Future Be Web or Mobile? How About Both!

Microsoft has been on an HTML5 kick lately, with recent announcements at TechEd 2011 more focused on HTML5 than on former Microsoft darling Silverlight. With the latest advances that HTML5 brings to the table, developers are asking themselves if apps in the future will be created using traditional programming languages or a blend of HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript.

With the latest advances that HTML5 brings to the table, developers are asking themselves if apps in the future will be created using traditional programming languages or a blend of HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript.

VP of mobile at CNN, Louis Gump, responded to the question by stating that it's "like asking which wheel you'd rather have on a bicycle." He believes that both technologies will be appropriate, that "if you're trying to decide between mobile web and apps the answer is both, and both are going to continue to grow, we believe."
