This week Microsoft has been working to prepare a new persistent Virtual Machine for its Windows Azure cloud platform. The new VM will be available for customers who currently host SharePoint, Linux and SQL Server, and will be available soon.

A recent report announced that Microsoft is constantly working to allow its customers to be able to provide a persistent Virtual Machine for the Windows Azure platform. As the report stated, "The current VM role when rebooted or randomly recycled by the Azure platform loses any data stored - any persistence. So for applications that rely on the machine name or files/config that constitute "state" not stored in SQL Azure (or externally), this is a problem."
