Windows 7 release candidate (RC) will soon expire

Monday Feb 8th 2010 by -

All users who installed the Windows 7 release candidate will soon have to upgrade or revert back to Vista

From the 15th of February expiration messages will appear just above the task bar, on machines still running the release candidate. From March 1 onward shut downs will happen every 2 hours

The next key date is June 1st which will cause the entire desktop wallpaper to be replaced with the message "This copy of Windows is not genuine", a state that will prevent any further updates of any kind and the ability to use Microsoft applications.
